Translation
When you want quality…
Work with someone who knows how to take the time to do the research necessary to deliver the perfect product for your needs.
In addition to the teaching that I do locally in Colorado, I am also proud to offer translation services. I have translated professionally in various capacities since 2002, when I interned for the Refugee and Immigration Program at the Advocates for Human Rights (formerly Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights) during my senior year of college. Since then I have worked with governmental agencies, translation companies, non-profits and non-governmental organizations, and private individuals to handle a wide variety of translation projects. My main language combination is Arabic to English, however often times clients have asked me to help them with other types of language combinations, in which case I work with other professional translators.
Often times people ask me about how human beings can possibly compete with AI (artificial intelligence) when it comes to translation. While these automated programs have certainly improved in the last fifteen years, they are far from perfect. If you have a project that it is important for you, your business, and your community, then you want to make sure that it is perfect. Translation involves far more than simple word-for-word equivalence. It requires subject knowledge, research, and the ability to write in the target language in such a way that the intended audience may not even notice that they are reading a translation. I will be working on a series of short blog posts and videos documenting some examples of the translation process. In the mean time, if you have questions about a potential product, please contact me at patrickjdsilva@gmail.com. I will be happy to work with you to achieve your goals.
